New Drivers Join MASCAR for 2012

MASCAR would like to welcome two new drivers to the series for 2012.

Adrian Pickerill is already a familar face to the series having made a number of guest appearances in 2010 and 2011, he has now joined the series full-time after purchasing the ex-#20 car. Ade will be racing as the #37 in 2011, a number he has a long association with in other formulas. Ade has previously raced Bangers and also achieved success in the Hot Ford formula, twice finishing second in the points championship at Grimley. He has also ran well in his previous appearances in MASCAR including taking an excellent race win at Lydden Hill in 2010.

Also joining MASCAR is a new face to the series, Karl Baker from Ipswich who has purchased the ex-#74 car. Despite only racing for 2 1/2 years, Karl has already achieved a great deal of success in the Spedeworth Rookie Rods class, progressing through the grades and will leave the formula as the owner of the coveted silver roof, awarded to the national points champion.

Karl is a second generation racer, his Dad racing Stock Rods and more recently Legends.

New driver #21 Karl Baker has purchased the ex-#74 car

Upon joining the formula Karl took the opportunity to share with us his thoughts on becoming part of the MASCAR series:

"My passion is non contact racing as I enjoy the side by side aspect of the racing. I have chosen to move to MASCAR to continue to develop as a driver and I believe the style of racing and competiveness of the formula provides plenty of opportunity for this."

Karl is supported by Auto Renovate MOT and Service Centre, Felixstowe – 01394 277346 but is also seeking new sponsorship opportunities:

"I would be interested to speak to potential sponsors who share my passion for motorsport. If you feel that there would be benefit to you or their business through sponsorship, or simply if you have a passion for Motorsport and would like to be involved in some small way I would also be happy to discuss this.

As a fan I have always followed the careers of some individual drivers, watching them progress and develop as drivers, enjoying their individual battles to compete and eventually win. This has always added to my enjoyment of following the different short oval formulas that eventually led to my own involvement in short oval racing.

Therefore if you have a sponsorship interest, however big or small please feel free to contact me and play a part in my development within MASCAR. All support would be gratefully received so please feel free to contact me by phone – 07970021267 or email - karlbaker105@gmail.com for more details."

MASCAR welcome both Karl and Ade to the series for 2012 and we wish them every success.

Glenn Lord - Oval Racing News competition winner

MASCAR Open Practice Day

Thank you to all the drivers who made it along to the Open Practice Day at Birmingham Wheels. The weather may not have helped us but there was still a good turnout of existing drivers giving their cars a pre-season shakedown, including new driver #31 Nathan Nicholls, plus a number of potential new drivers who were out testing the 'For Sale' cars - #04  #32 and #22.

A special mention also to Glenn Lord who was the lucky winner of an Oval Racing News competition to win a test session in the #32 car.

A big thanks to Oval Racing News for organising the competition, to subscribe visit the Oval Racing News website.

Incarace photographer Phill Cornish from Ovalpix was also on hand to capture the event and Phill even got to run a few laps in the #04 car as well!

Photos from the day can be found in the MASCAR gallery and on Phill's flickr set
